Cane Corso Italiano is not a breed for everyone.
Before you decide to purchase one of our dogs please read carefully!
Nowadays, a lot of backyard breeders have ruined this ancient breed. Dogs that were excellent watchdogs, and house and property guard dogs, became couch potatoes without a soul of a Cane Corso. Some breeders even began to divide their kennels into two groups- a “work group” and “conformation group”. BUT NOT US. WE HAVE CANE CORSO THAT LOOK BEAUTIFUL AND ARE WITHIN A CANE CORSO BREED STANDARD BUT ARE ALSO GREAT WORKING DOGS, which was their original purpose.

I will not describe the Cane Corso as a breed in general but describe our dogs, the FIDECORE dogs. Our lines have very old roots, we make sure that they are mentally and physically strong, but also have the drive to work for you. They are not suitable for lazy people, people looking for a dog to spend their days on the couch. Many people are looking for a cane Corso as a family dog, and despite their ability to work, they are extremely tribal and affectionate, devoted with all their heart and mind but… they are not Labradors. Despite their love for their people, they are dogs that require work.

You wonder what type of job would be
appropriate? It can be daily jog or cycling, all kinds of sports with
dogs and them having freedom to guard a large area. They will not
work as a family dog when locked in a cage all day and then
getting a 15 min walk on a leash or a 20 min run in a small garden.
Sooner or later, the dog will find itself something to do, for
example digging burrows, hunting rodents and destroying
everything in their path, habitual and constant barking,
troublesome behavior, frustration, etc.

So before you decide on a dog from FIDECORE, please think it over carefully.

If you have at least an hour a day to give them your
undivided attention like walking them, playing or training, you will
be a good owner.
If you understand the fact that they are independent dogs and
instead of forcing them into a behavior, you have to earn their
attention, that’s another plus for you
If you understand that you need to earn the trust of your Cane Corso, not force your dog into submission-it is another plus for you.
If you understand that a dog needs at least a basic obedience training that will set the foundation for any future trainings it is yet another plus.
If you know that your children can NEVER be left alone with a dog without any adult supervision, that’s a plus for you.
Our dogs are not for everyone. Unfortunately, many breeders sell their dogs to anyone and everyone; many dogs end up in shelters and are put to sleep because of aggression. Aggression occurs when a dog feels misunderstood and is raised opposite of the principles mentioned above. They are frustrated and the only visible signal to the dog’s family is manifesting the frustration in behaviors that will gain attention from the owner.
Children are very often unknowingly abuse dogs, abuse them physically and mentally, and you should react immediately and educate your
children on how to deal with the dog. If you think that your child can do anything and the dog has no right to react, you should never have a dog of ANY BREED, NOT ONLY A CANE CORSO.
Our dogs are comprehensively guided by us, have a lot of patience and understanding for us. They are a part of our family, treated as family member, and it is the duty of families to raise and care for them. Every one of our dogs is treated and raised individually and despite over a hundred Cane Corso’s raised, we have never had the same character or personality twice. Every single one of our dogs is different, therefore they have different needs and they like different things. Some prefer to be lonely, others demand attention from everyone, forcing them to do so, and others
balance in between. We understand the needs of our dogs and caution potential owners that individual treatment is extremely important in their upbringing. We treat our dogs with respect and dignity they deserve, but at the same time they are disciplined daily. We raise them with respect towards people.

Our dogs are not “corrupt” they do not trust right away, strangers must spend some time with the dog to be even conditionally accepted into their circle. We do not force them to play or have a closer relationship with strangers , it all depends on whether someone deserves it. That is why our home is not open to strangers. Our dogs are not “cage born” dogs, living and dying in concrete kennels. They are not for public display that anyone can come and play with them . They have their home with us and are very happy life here.
Many of our friends know very well that even when puppies are born, they
cannot just come and play with them. There is time and place for everything. Mothers of our puppies must be in a proper mental condition after the puppies are born, to endure the sight of strangers playing with their offspring.
Very often, aggression does not mean that they are bad, on the contrary, very often it means fear. Why? Because a dog that is not yet “broken”
will still have the drive to fight for their fate. The “broken” dogs are the ones that run away even at a slightest sound. The ones that run and hide so no one can see them are the broken dogs that had their soul taken away by an irresponsible owner. They have no confidence and self-respect. Many trainers treat aggression with aggression and thus destroy the fighting spirit that Cane Corso’s were born with. In order to work out aggression, you need to find out where the aggression is coming from and what is causing it. It
should be remembered that dogs are not ambitious and never expect more than they need to survive and have a peaceful life, and spoiled dogs will fight for the good things they were given by a human. Our dogs are proud, self-confident and dignified. There is no fear in them, only the respect shown to us. We adhere to the principle of 90% positivity and 10% negativity during upbringing or training. One without the other does not exist. Without setting up expectations we will not get any respect, and without any stress there will be no motivation for the dog to earn a reward. Stress in small amounts motivate the dog to work , but if stress level is to high it will cause the dog to exhibit destructive behavior, so our dogs should be brought up scrupulously.
