Our history
Where It All Began
Our journey with the Cane Corso began in 2003—completely by accident. In one of the most difficult moments of my life, after saying goodbye to my first German Shepherd, a Cane Corso female named Shiva unexpectedly entered my home and heart. She was given to me as a way to ease the pain, and she became so much more than that—my comfort, my shadow, my healing.
Shiva was never bred. She was spayed at four years old and lived her life simply as my cherished companion. She passed away in 2014 at the age of 11, but her presence still lives with me every day. She was the beginning of everything.

From Many Breeds to One True Calling
Before discovering the Cane Corso, I spent many years surrounded by other breeds. I owned German Shepherds, volunteered extensively with shelters and rescue organizations, and opened my home as a foster for both Rottweilers and Pit Bulls. Each of those dogs taught me something—but everything changed in 2003 when I met my first Cane Corso.
That dog was Shiva, and from the moment she entered my life, my heart belonged to this breed.
Shiva showed me what it truly means to have a loyal, intelligent, and devoted guardian. She was protective yet balanced, incredibly intuitive, and had an unwavering dedication to me. Although she was well-socialized and met many people throughout her life, she made it clear—she had only one owner, and that was me.
From that day forward, I knew the Cane Corso was the breed I would dedicate myself to.

Our Foundation: Built on History, Purpose, and Precision
Our second female, Genua (Ate), became the foundation of our breeding program. She was not chosen by chance—her selection came after over a year of careful research. We studied the breed standard, historical function, and top kennels across Europe, determined to find a female whose pedigree aligned with our vision.
Genua’s bloodline is rooted in old, proven working stock, with grandparents still healthy at over ten years of age. We deliberately avoided the trends of modern breeding—the over-exaggerated, hypertype Corsos that resemble Boxers more than the true working dogs of history. We are not interested in small, lightweight Cane Corsos with no trace of the strong, functional dogs once used for guarding farms, protecting families, and defending territory.
What inspires us is the real history of the breed—the Cane Corso as it was meant to be. That’s why we’ve built our program around some of the oldest, most respected pedigrees in existence. Our breedings are rare and intentional, typically producing three to five litters per year, and each litter is given our full time, attention, and care. It’s the most rewarding—but also the most demanding—part of what we do.
Why We Breed—And Why We Show
To us, breeding without showing makes no sense. How can you evaluate your breeding program if you don’t test it in the ring? Dog shows aren’t just about ribbons—they’re about accountability, evaluation, and progress. A home-bred champion is more than a title—it’s a breeder’s exam passed with pride.
Breeding just to produce pets? We don’t believe in that. Every dog, champion or not, is a companion—but not every companion dog should be bred. Shows are an essential tool to assess conformation, temperament, and breeding potential. A litter that doesn’t produce dogs worthy of further evaluation is not a step forward—it’s a lost opportunity. And given how short a dog’s breeding career is, those missed opportunities are costly to a serious breeder’s vision.
Where We Stand in the Cane Corso World
We do not compare ourselves to others
-
Hundreds of backyard breeders producing litters without understanding the breed.
-
Dozens of commercial operations breeding solely for profit.
-
Many show-focused kennels prioritizing looks while neglecting working drive.
-
And working kennels that focus on utility but disregard proper conformation.
But then, there are a few breeders like us—who don’t breed for money, but for legacy. Who understand what they are breeding and why. Who are committed to preserving both conformation and working ability. That is FIDECORE.
Our Breeding Vision
The Cane Corso is a breed of incredible potential. It’s our job to bring out the best in them—in both form and function. We focus on:
-
Excellent temperaments
-
Sound structure and proven health
-
Strong, athletic bodies with correct angulation
-
Wide, muscular front and backs with slightly rising toplines
-
Correct, square heads with strong jaws – no chicks
-
Deep, broad chests and substantial bone
We aim to produce intelligent, powerful, and harmoniously built dogs—true to the breed’s purpose and history.
That’s the Cane Corso we fell in love with. That’s the Cane Corso we breed. That’s FIDECORE.
Preserving the Cane Corso’s Working Heritage
At FIDECORE, we believe the Cane Corso is, first and foremost, a working breed, and our greatest priority is preserving the instincts, intelligence, and capabilities that define this dog’s original purpose.
A true working dog doesn’t need to be shouted at—or shocked into obedience. If trained properly, a Cane Corso will respond to a whisper. That’s why we do not believe in the use of e-collars or harsh training tools. A skilled dog with a solid temperament and a knowledgeable handler should never require force-based methods.
The Foundation Starts at Home
All of our puppies are family-raised, giving them the right start in life—exposed to everyday routines, human interaction, and foundational structure. However, the long road to a well-mannered and obedient adult begins the moment they leave us. Their success ultimately depends on the commitment, time, and consistency of the new owner.
When bred and raised properly, almost any dog can be trained—but not every dog is destined to become a high-level working dog. Drive, focus, resilience, and energy level vary from dog to dog, even within the same litter.
Matching the Right Dog to the Right Home
What experience has shown us is this: it’s far easier to place low to medium-drive dogs in homes than it is to place dogs with high working drive. The majority of returned dogs over the years have been high-energy types that required more time, engagement, and structure than their owners were prepared for.
That’s why we breed with balance in mind—producing intelligent, stable, versatile companions who are manageable in active homes, while also preserving the true working temperament for those who are capable of handling it.
Two Breeding Goals, One Standard
We breed for two complementary but distinct purposes:
-
To produce well-rounded, loyal Cane Corsos who thrive as protective, active companions.
-
To preserve true working lines—for those dedicated to performance, protection, and advanced training.
These goals cannot always be fulfilled in a single dog, which is why selection, purpose, and placement matter. We are proud to still produce dogs with real working potential—but we place them carefully, with those equipped to bring out their full capabilities.
At FIDECORE, we are not just preserving a breed—we’re preserving a legacy. And we take that responsibility seriously.
